Position Description of Creative Director

Summary: The creative director is in charge of stylistic decisions of the team's creative collaboration. He or she will guide the written, verbal and visual aspect of the pre-production process in conceiving, developing and producing the concept and messaging of the institutional spot. The creative director will be responsible for the creative brief and storyboard, and must work with the videographer and editor to see the concept through to completion.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Gathers information and conducts research regarding audience, market environment and competition
  • Sustains and guides the creative process
  • Oversees the contents and creation of the creative brief
  • Writes the script and supporting material
  • Creates storyboards for all scenes
  • Leads team in a close-knit creative partnership to generate workable concepts and ideas

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Assists in maintaining a blog to document the team’s progression
  • Assists in obtaining all audio and visual components needed for the video
  • Assists in creating shot list
  • Supports the team throughout the production process, which may include location scouting, casting, creating graphics, and presenting to client (UCAM) and other constituents
