Position Description of Sound Director

Summary: The sound director is in charge of the music, sound and narration that will accompany the promotional video. He or she will coordinate with the rest of the team from pre-production through post-production to provide music/sounds that will enhance the production. The sound director will work closely with the creative director and editor to apply the sound aspect of the creative concept.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Write/Arrange music to suit the mood and action in the production
  • Work with the editor to edit sound effects in the production
  • Obtain all audio components needed for the videos, including interview recordings

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Assists in maintaining a blog to document the team’s progression
  • Supports the team throughout the production process, which may include finding interview subjects, creating graphics, and presenting to client (UCAM) and other constituents
  • Helps to sustain and guide creative process
